The City of Arlington maintains 376 miles of roads, 4 major highways, 280 signalized intersections, 81 traffic cameras, and major transit routes through Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Arlington county traffic management personnel supervise one of the largest daily commute patterns in the nation, ensuring access to the Pentagon, Washington National Airport, and other critical federal resources.
To effectively manage the supervision of major transit arteries, traffic management operators of the City of Arlington required a powerful centralized visualization system that could display information pulled from across the county. They needed a system that was both easy to use and suitable for 24/7 operation.
CineMassive was selected to provide Arlington’s transportation management center with a centralized visualization solution. Arlington chose CineMassive due to its ability to provide a system that was 24/7-reliable and user-friendly enough to be accessible to all operators.
CineMassive delivered a turn-key video wall solution that included all necessary hardware and software components. For the display, CineMassive provided a 5×2 LCD video wall built with 55″ monitors. The video wall allowed operators to simultaneously view dozens of video feeds pulled from across the county, giving the team increased visibility into traffic patterns and issues.
For the video wall processor, CineMassive provided its Alpha Elite video wall controller, an high-performance processor built for mission-critical applications. The Alpha Elite was able to capture all of Arlington’s data – including its 81 traffic cameras, local TV, weather and workstation graphics systems – displaying them on the video wall in real-time. Once displayed on the video wall, camera feeds and data could be moved freely across the screen. This gave the team the flexibility to shift its perspective quickly from a wide array of camera feeds to a tightly-focused view.
CineMassive’s user-friendly Touch Control software gave transportation management operators control over the video wall and the source content. Through a streamlined, user-friendly touch console, operators could determine which sources they wanted to view on the video wall, move content around the video wall canvas, save pre-arranged layouts, and much more.
In conjunction with other real-time transit monitoring systems, the completed CineMassive system helps the City of Arlington keep their transit networks operating as efficiently and safely as possible.
