The Global Research Network Operations Center (GRNOC) at Indiana University (IUPUI) is a provider of highly-responsive network coordination, engineering, and installation services for R&D networks. The GlobalNOC provides 24/7 support for some of the most advanced research networks in the United States.
Technicians at the Global NOC are tasked with monitoring, managing, and supporting networks in real-time to ensure uninterrupted service and business continuity. Due to the large number of networks they support, GlobalNOC technicians must work collaboratively to address and resolve service issues.
To enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of its operations, the GlobalNOC planned to implement a new video wall system in its Indianapolis facility. The GlobalNOC selected CineMassive to provide its visualization system because of CineMassive’s proven expertise in providing turn-key solutions for NOC environments.
To fulfill the requirements of the GlobalNOC, CineMassive designed, built, and installed a turn-key visualization solution – all within an aggressive 30 day time-frame.
For the display, CineMassive provided an LCD video wall in a 6×2 configuration of ultra-narrow bezel displays. The video wall was mounted on a freestanding structure that saved space and concealed the cabling, allowing operators to work and move freely around the system.
To route content to the displays, CineMassive provided an Alpha video wall controller, a processor with twelve inputs that were connected to various workstations in the NOC. The Alpha featured a user-friendly software interface that allowed technicians to push content displayed on their workstations to the video wall for collaborative analysis.
Using the CineMassive system, technicians at the GlobalNOC can now monitor their networks on a bright, ultra-high-resolution display canvas, tracking open alarms and managing their tasks collaboratively. The CineMassive visualization system enables technicians to detect issues more quickly and work more efficiently to deliver resolutions.
